Online Courses
Online courses are the same as traditional courses in the terms of academic quality, credit hours, and transferability. They are taught via the Internet. Any course that is 50% or more online is considered an online course. Students will access course materials with a username and password to our secure course management system. Some courses have on-campus orientation, lab, or testing requirements. Specific information is available in the DE Catalog. See the Scheduling Codes table for section number designations.
Telecourses
Telecourses are the same as traditional courses in the terms of academic quality, credit hours, and transferability. Telecourses are available DVD and may be checked out on a semester basis from one of the STC libraries. Students view the lessons at home and complete assignments as scheduled with instructors. Some instructors also require an internet component and/or on-campus testing. Specific information is available in the DE Catalog. See the Scheduling Codes table for section number designations.
Hybrid Courses
Hybrid courses are the same as traditional courses in the terms of academic quality, credit hours, and transferability. These classes meet BOTH on campus and online, but meet less frequently on campus than traditional classes. For example, a TR class may meets on campus only on Tuesdays and the rest of the course time will be completed online. Specific information is available in the DE Catalog. See the Scheduling Codes table for section number designations.
Videoconference Courses
In a Videoconferenced class, the instructor and students see and hear each other over a live, two-way videoconference connection (like remote interviews on the news). Requirements for these classes are the same as attending traditional classes on campus. Students are required to attend and participate in class activities, and may be required to submit assignments via our secure course management system or email. See the Scheduling Codes table for section number designations.
Web Enhanced Courses
Web Enhanced courses are the same as traditional classes in the terms of academic quality, credit hours, transferability. Web Enhanced Courses are classes that meet regularly but have an optional or required web component. Students may access additional classroom content via our secure course management system. Section codes for web-enhanced classes are the same as for all on campus classes. |
